Devacox

Properties:

Sulfadimidine: is a pyrimidine sulfonamide antimicrobial agent, sulfonamide being structural analogue of Para amino benzoic acid (PABA), competitively inhibit the incorporation of BAPA into dihydropteroic acid the precursor of folic acid.

Diaviridine: is a folic acid antagonist which act by making inhibition to the dihydrofolate reductase enzyme.

Sulfonamides are often used in combination with dihydrofolate reductase inhibitors because of the observed synergistic effects due to activity at two places in folate biosynthesis.

Composition:

Each 100 gram contains:

Sulphadimidin sodium:….………………………………………92 gm.

 Eq. to Sulphadimidin base 80 gm.

Diaviridine hydrochloride:…………………………………….2.8 gm.

 Eq. to Diaviridine base 2.5 gm.

Target species:

Broiler chicken.

Indications:

For treatment of infections caused by susceptible microorganisms to Sulfadimidine and Diaviridine  combination in broiler chickens.

Devacox  is used for treatment of coccidiosis caused by E.maxima, E.acervulina, E.tenella and E.necatrix. in broiler chickens when administered in drinking water.

The combination is effective against and fowl cholera caused by Pasteurella spp. and Infectious coryza caused by Haemophilus gallinarum infection in broiler chicken.

Dosage & Route of administration:

Route of administration: orally via drinking water

For whole product:

0.5 gm Devacox / liter of drinking water for 3-5 days.

Warning& Precaution:
  1. Medicated water should be replaced daily.
  2. Care in renal impairment.
  3. Ensure adequate water intake during treatment.
  4. Avoid prolonged administration.
Contra – Indication:

Not used in laying birds where eggs or eggs product are to be used for human consumption.

Side Effects:

Not reported in the recommended dose.

Withdrawal time:

MEAT: 10 days.

Storage:

Stored at temperature not exceed  30 C˚.
